At Atomeocean, we are dedicated to empowering jobseekers on their journey to find meaningful employment. Our platform provides a supportive and interactive online community where individuals can connect, share knowledge, and access valuable resources to enhance their job search. We are seeking an experienced Financial Risk Specialist to own recurring risk-monitoring cycles, build decision-grade risk models, and act as a trusted risk counterpart to a specific business unit.
Job Description
As a mid-level Financial Risk Specialist, you will operate with limited supervision, own end-to-end risk workflows for one risk domain (credit, market, liquidity, or operational), and partner directly with business and finance leads. You will translate operational drivers into risk metrics, lead the monthly risk-committee commentary for your area, and mentor Level I staff on standard processes.
Responsibilities
- Own the recurring risk-monitoring cycle (daily/weekly/monthly) and risk-committee reporting for an assigned risk domain or business unit.
- Build and maintain quantitative risk models — including credit scorecards, exposure-at-default models, VaR / stressed-VaR calculations, or operational-loss frequency / severity models.
- Lead month-end risk commentary: variance analysis against limits, narrative write-ups, and presentation of results to risk and business leaders.
- Partner with department managers to refine risk assumptions (counterparty ratings, collateral terms, stress scenarios, control design).
- Develop and improve recurring risk dashboards in Tableau / Power BI; write SQL queries against the data warehouse for ad-hoc risk analysis.
- Review and approve standard control tests and reconciliations prepared by Level I team members.
- Identify opportunities to reduce risk-adjusted losses, improve control efficiency, or strengthen limit frameworks in the assigned area.
- Mentor Level I Financial Risk Specialists on modeling techniques, reporting standards, and stakeholder communication.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Statistics, Mathematics, Accounting, or a related field.
- 2–4 years of relevant experience in financial risk management, credit analysis, audit / advisory, or quantitative analytics.
- Strong Excel modeling skills, including driver-based forecasting and scenario / stress analysis.
- Working proficiency with SQL and at least one BI tool (Tableau or Power BI).
- Experience working with risk or finance systems (ERP, loan origination, or risk-management platforms).
- Proven ability to operate with limited supervision and meet recurring risk-reporting deadlines.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present findings to non-risk stakeholders.
- Ability to collaborate with team members in a remote work environment.
Preferred Skills
- Progress toward FRM, CFA, PRM, CPA, or an MBA.
- Written and verbal communication skills in Mandarin.
- Experience in a high-growth technology, financial services, or cross-border services business.
- Exposure to Python or R for risk-model automation and statistical analysis.
Additional Information
- Competitive salary and benefits package.
- Opportunities for professional growth and leadership development.
- Flexible working hours and a fully remote work environment.
- A collaborative and innovative team culture.
If you are a self-directed risk partner who enjoys translating exposures into business action, we encourage you to apply!
