New York University (in New York City) charges a Maintenance of Status Fee through its Office of Global Services (OGS) for post-completion OPT and STEM OPT, on top of the USCIS filing fee.

When the Fee Is Charged
The online OPT I-20 request asks you to upload the payment receipt, so pay on the payment page first and then submit the request. The post-completion OPT form's required uploads include a "receipt showing payment of the Maintenance of Status fee", and the STEM OPT form's include a "receipt showing payment of the Maintenance of Status Fee for STEM OPT".
Notes
- This fee is paid to the school. It is separate from the USCIS I-765 filing fee, and you pay both.
- The website doesn't say whether the fee is refundable.
